Director Geir Lundestad of the Norwegian Nobel Institute is pleased to see the increased interest.
He believes the fact that US President Barack Obama was awarded the Prize last year, may be one reason for this.
The winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on October 4th.

Record number nominated for the Peace Prize 2010
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has received 237 nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize 2010, out of which 38 are organizations. This is the highest number of nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize ever.
